If a student is willing to be teachable, has an initial love of success, can learn from setbacks, we will reveal our secrets of success.
The drive, principles, and inspiration for AmericanAffluent began in 1980.
Three disparate individuals were the inspiration and original founders of this business.
First was Jeff Shuster. Jeff suffered a horrific car accident when he was 18: paralyzed for life. He turned adversity into opportunity.
Then Joe Duerr. Joe was a professional child actor on Broadway. And a professional singer.
He studied the same concepts in NLP that produced Tony Robbins.
Joe became a branch manager at Paine Webber on Long Island. He also sang the national anthem at the Nassau Coliseum for the inept NY Islanders hockey team.
Joe hypnotized most of the hockey players who went on to win four Stanley Cups in a row in the 1980s.
And then there was Huey Long. A friend, mentor and visionary who passed on way too early in life. His legacy and vision live on today.
The same performance techniques coached by the outstanding members of our organization can be used today by clients who aspire to be world-class daytraders.
We truly believe that our organization is only as strong as the weakest member. As each member grows, so does our business. That is why we have developed an amazing tool for your success.
The roots for AA begin in 1980. If you are not inspired by Jeff Shuster, you will never be inspired by anyone.
We first met Jeff who was looking for a job, right after his car accident.
Few were willing to take a chance on hiring not only a handicapped person, but someone who never had a job.
More amazing, he wanted his first job to be a stockbroker for Prudential-Bache Securities in Smithtown, New York.
Would you hire this person?
Today he is a multi-millionaire.
There were no guarantees.
The concept of AmericanAffluent was born.
Jeff now now inspires thousands.

Duerr is a graduate of Providence College with an Economics major. He initially served in the U.S Army as a military police officer and later started coaching and training in economics. Duerr has always believed that professional investment solutions were pretty much available to anyone who could pay for it and who could put in the time to study the market.
Joe was a successful branch manager (for over 10 years) with Paine Webber on Long Island.
Joe is a certified professional hypnotist. For over 15 years, Joe has worked with professional traders and professional athletes.
Joe performed the National Anthem for 15 years for the NY Islanders hockey club at Nassau Coliseum. His inspiration and hypnosis coaching may have been one reason the last-place Islanders won four Stanley Cups in a row.
His philosophy says that one must stay in their zone regardless of their profession. This philosophy is backed up by important attributes of a professional, including consistency, precision, focus, foresight, analytical thinking, and execution rigidity.
In Duerr’s own words “The zone is where you use your established skills instinctively, without allowing any outside influences to affect your thinking, emotions or mindset. In the zone, you will remain fully focused on proper execution while “knowing” the probability of a successful conclusion is likely to occur.”

Sadly, Mr. Hugh E. Long (Huey) is no longer with us.
Not the Huey Long of political fame, although Huey did play fullback at LSU and the crowd had fun when the "ball carried by Huey Long," was announced.
Huey came from humble beginnings. He could have been a poster boy for J.D. Vance's book, Hillbilly Elegy.
Huey started out in live hunting squirrels for food and later became a money manager and broker for Bache and Co.
He hired our friend Jeff Shuster. Huey hired a motley crew of various individuals, certainly not Ivy League trust fund beneficiaries.
Each went on to great success.
Huey was an early advocate of financial planning, working under chairman George Ball, helping clients with their total investment needs, not just doling out stock tips.
He loved trading commodities and was very good at it.
We honor Huey today and promise to advance his vision as we move forward.
